This workshop is a journey to encounter and get to know an individual herb on an organoleptic and energetic level, a practice passed down through generations of herbalists to gain awareness of the medicinal qualities of a plant.
In silent reverence, we consciously take an infusion of the herb into our bodies, observing its aroma, appearance, and taste, enabling participants to personally engage with the plant, quietly guiding contemplation of the energetics of the plant, experiencing where physically in the body it travels to and if it has anything to communicate with us in this moment.
Once the journey is complete and we are all back in the room, there will be the opportunity to meet the herb in the physical realm, express our experiences through art, movement, and discussion whilst we share knowledge of the herb such as medicinal actions, traditional uses, growing habits, harvesting and preservation.
Medical Herbalists (MNIMH), Arlene Burnett and Nik Hiscock, together combine decades of experience teaching an eclectic diversity of courses and practical workshops.
Having originally trained in Fine Art, Arlene is founder of the speciality herbal tea company ‘Queen of Camellias’ and currently specialises in growing medicinal herbs for her herbal medicine practice based in the West Midlands.
Specialising in acute herbal medicine, Nik is the founder of ‘We2Wyrdwood Botanicals’, a Somerset based apothecary & herbal medicine practice including a drop-in clinic providing subsidised herbal treatment for those who would be unable to afford it.
